The following video is not meant for the faint hearted. What you will see below are very strong scenes of cars that were rejected by society being cruelly shredded for recycling and maybe even be transformed into refrigerator doors later on. We’ll never know. The metal monster responsible for this automotive genocide is a “universal shredder” called VZ-950, made by a machinery company called Arjes.
The giant car shredder runs on a 768 horsepower diesel engine, and has very high throughput – depending on material and tool shafts up to 180 t/h. It also counts with an automatic reversing function which protects the cutting tools against fracture, which seems very logical considering it’s heel to fix a simple paper shredder that gets jammed, we cannot even imagine the work it would take to unjam this big boy.
