Replacing human body parts might come sooner than you’d expect

Perhaps it is the ultimate dream of man to become immortal. One might argue that the greatest possible achievement that humans on earth can possibly earn is cheating death. Countless man hours have been used and billions of dollars have been spent just on research for finding a way to prolong human life. Of course while there might be different ways to achieve this goal, we will focus on one; how to replace body parts when they are no longer functional.

Organ transplantation is one solution and is already widely used with a good degree of success. Although this is an excellent solution, for now, it does not seem that this solution is the optimal one. This is purely based on the fact that our bodies tend to reject organs that do not belong to us, or what is commonly known as transplant rejection. The current solution to this problem is to constantly take immunosuppressive drugs which prevents our body from rejecting outsourced organs.
