Walter’s Coffee Roastery is a Breaking Bad coffee shop and also the world’s first coffee laboratory, according to the founder Deniz Kosan. Just like you would expect of any coffee shop, they specialize in providing you with daily roasted coffee. But that isn’t all there is to Walter’s Coffee Roastery.
What’s catchy about this coffee shop is the theme in which it is set up. It is inspired by one of the best TV shows out there, Breaking Bad. It is named after the show’s protagonist, Walter White, who is a chemistry teacher diagnosed with lung cancer that decided to partner up with one of his former students to cook and sell meth.
The whole shop is designed to look like Walter’s lab. The staff wear yellow jumpsuits similar to the ones worn by Walter and Jesse. They even wear gas masks as well! The staff brews coffee in a machine that looks similar to what you would expect to see in a chemistry lab, boil water with Bunsen burners and they even have a periodic table on the wall.
The first shop was launched in Istanbul on March 2015 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. In case you’re just finding out about this Breaking Bad coffee shop, you might be interested to know that they have already been featured on CNN, Fast Company, Mashable, Vanity Fair, Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post and many more.
After enjoying a lot of success in Istanbul, Kosan has his sights on New York City. Kosan aims to open another Breaking Bad coffee shop in Brooklyn by April 2016 and in order to do that, he needs your help. This is why he launched a Kickstarter campaign with the aim of raising $55,000 to help him cover the costs of opening the shop.
In the event that they secure the $55,000, they will get permits to start construction, pay broker fees, legal fees and also pay for decoration, ventilation and roaster installation. Here is a good idea of how they will use the money.
They also have some pretty cool rewards for their backers.

There are many risks facing Kosan if he is to make his New York dream a reality. New York is filled with competition and clearly, a lot of work needs to be done if they are to have any chance of succeeding. Other difficulties are legal challenges such as various permits, licenses and certificates that are needed before the business can commence operation. Kosan believes that after lots of hours on research and preparation, they are ready for the task at hand.
