What if you could go from Europe to Asia in a matter of minutes? Denmark has the perfect solution for you. This of course does not involve some kind of teleportation device, but rather, they have a miniature version of the world that you can actually walk on known as the Verdenskortet.

The Verdenskortet, which is Danish for ‘world map’, as its name implies, is a land that represents the map of the world, displaying all the continents and their respective locations. What is interesting about this place is that all of it was made entirely out of soil and sand alone. Did we mention that it was also created by one man individually?

This man was called Søren Poulsen and was born in 1888 on the very same land that the Verdenskortet is currently located. After he was born, he moved to the United States and later on came back to his homeland when he was 20 years old. It was not until 1944 that he would begin the construction of the Verdenskortet, motivated by his love for Geography. He worked on the historic site for the rest of his life until his last day in 1969, dying at 81 years.
