Drone might be fast, useful, fun.. but cute definitely was never a way to describe them; that is, until now. We’re talking about Lazurite Fly, a drone that looks like an origami crane and that has been drawing lots of attention at this year’s CEATEC expo, Japan’s leading conference for emerging tech and the biggest electronics show in Asia.
Inside its paper cover, Lazurite Fly has a structure of carbon nanotubes, to give it strength and lightness, and the engines were assembled from 3D-printed nylon. Rohm, the company that developed Lazurite, the prettiest drone ever (since all the others have very strange forms, though are actually useful) will provide all the steps of the construction project on the Internet for other people to make their own Lazurites, but the engines and the control system will be sold separately. They haven’t mentioned exactly when this will be available, but you can keep an eye on the company’s website to check news.
