Can’t Afford A GoPro? Here’s A $99 Alternative That Takes 4K Videos

Who doesn’t like shooting their adventures in high-resolution? But not everyone can afford a high-end GoPro Hero4 Black that captures 4K videos and costs $499. GoPro has a lower-price alternative, the Hero4 Session that costs $299. Now a Canadian company called Volt is bringing a $99 action camera that captures 4K UHD videos and 16MP high-definition photos.

The VOLT X has a 2-inch/5.08-cm rear LCD display screen, and can capture video in 4K, 1080p, 720p and VGA as well as 16MP photos. It has a 17° wide angle lens with F2.1 aperture. The VOLT X comes with waterproof and shock-proof casing. Volt X is waterproof up to a depth of 60 meters and can survive a drop from 12,000 feet. It features Sony’s CMOS sensor with a low-light resolution that enhances underwater clarity, even when the sun is not shining.

The VOLT X includes a quick-release buckle and two adhesive mounts — one curved and the other flat — for attachment onto a helmet, handlebar or watercraft. Additionally, the three-way pivot arm allows getting the right angle to record various activities ranging from scuba diving to sky diving and virtually any other adventure/activity sport you can think of.

The VOLT X comes with a built-in HDMI Port and a micro-USB Port and also supports WiFi, and can meet all your connectivity needs.As for storage space, the VOLT X’s external memory card slot supports microSD cards up to 64GB. And the built-in battery allows the camera to run just over an hour.

The camera is not currently available on the store shelves. They have built a fully functional prototype and are soon going to launch an Indiegogo Campaign to raise funds to make it and bring it to the market. They plan to start shipping the camera in March 2017. Volt said the camera will be available for shipping around the world. Those pledging $99 or more would get a Volt X camera, a waterproof case, and ten different mounts
